NASCAR Cup Series Spending Its Sunday at Talladega
Stock car legend Dale Earnhardt ended up with 76 wins on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit and two-time champion Kyle Busch (15/1 to win 2022 Geico 500, BetOnline) is the leading active race-winner with Kevin Harvick second with 58 checkered flags to date.
Two-time titleholder Busch is still ninth on the all-time NASCAR Cup Series wins list but is just now 16 Wins away from seven-time champion Earnhardt, with the next-closest active competitor on the NASCAR Cup Series circuit being Harvick (16/1) with 58.
The GEICO 500 is a 188-lap, 500-mile race on the steep-banked tri-oval 2.66-mile (4.28 km) track and this Talladega Spring race is the 10th race on the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series schedule and the Weather forecast is calling for Partly Cloudy skies and a high of 84°.

Will Fords Continue Success at Talladega Superspeedway?
A driver who you will keep your eyes on at Talladega on Sunday afternoon is Ryan Blaney, a proud member of Team Penske and a 28-year-old native of Ohio still looking for his first Win this 2022 NASCAR Cup Series year but the Driver who has won the most Poles (3).
Blaney (321 points) and his No. 12 Mustang should be in the mix at Talladega Superspeedway Sunday and might even snag his first checkered flag and Blaney also has four Top 5 finishes this season and seems the Driver “most due to” win a race right now.
And with the Fords doing so well on the Alabama Asphalt, backing Blaney (9/1 to win 2022 GEICO 500, BetOnline) backing the Team Penske member and his Mustang in some select Drivers Matchup makes some sense, especially at lower prices than a Futures risk.
Two Drivers Matchups on the betting board at BetUS that I like here head-to-head are (Ryan Blaney -135) against last year’s 2022 GEICO 500 winner Brad Keselowski (+105) and (Blaney -135) over 2022 Daytona 500 surprise winner, Rookie Austin Cindric (+105).
Why? Blaney is due to win a race and has the most Top 10 finishes (6) on the circuit and he won this race two years ago in 2021 and Team Penske has been very successful here of late, winning four of the last six GEICO 500 races held at Talladega Superspeedway.
William Byron (+750 to win 2022 GEICO 500) is still the leader in the standings and after winning the 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Blue-Emu Maximum Pain Relief 400 from Martinsville Speedway in Martinsville, Virginia and his second race of the season
Byron—who like Blaney also has four Top 5 finishes this 2022 NASCAR season—also won the 2022 NASCAR Folds of Honor QuikTrip 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton, Georgia at 14/1 odds in the Future book and is now sits at +750 to win the Championship.

We can probably anticipate last year’s NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Larson (+475), Chase Elliott (+675), Blaney, Byron and maybe last week’s lucky-winner in the dirt at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Busch (+775), to all be in the Top 10 of the GEICO 500.
The Drivers with the most Wins (4) here at Talladega are Jeff Gordon and last year’s winner, Brad Kesolowski (66/1) with Bobby Allison, Davey Allison, Buddy Baker, David Pearson, Dale “The Intimidator” Earnhardt, and his son DaleEarnhardt, Jr. winning thrice.
The Team with the most Wins in this race at Talladega has been Hendrick Motorsports (8) with Team Penske having won five times (2012, 2016, 2018, 2020, 2021) with Wood Brothers, Ranier-Lundy Racing and Richard Childress Racing all winning it four times.
The Manufacturer who has won the most GEICO 500 races has been Chevrolet, with 20 checkered flags with Ford having won at Talladega a proud 15 times, with Mercury and Oldsmobile winning four GEICO 500s, Buicks three, Pontiacs two, and Dodge just once.
The 2022 NASCAR Cup Series Regular Season will come to an end on Saturday, August 27 with the 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 from the Daytona Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, and this NASCAR Cup Series season is the first using the new NextGen cars.
The 2022 NASCAR Playoffs will rev up with the Round of 16 and the CookOut Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway in Darlington, SC, on September 4 and will some to a climax in the Sonoran Desert with the Season Finale at Phoenix Raceway on Sunday, November, 6.
2022 Geico 500 Driver’s Matchups Picks:
Ryan Blaney -135 Over Brad Keselowski +105
Ryan Blaney -135 Over Austin Cindric +105
Kyle Busch -110 Over Bubba Wallace -120
Alex Bowman -135 Over Chris Buescher +105
